Fans Of Boxing To Enjoy Four National Bouts This December

The Nigerian Boxing Board of Control (NBBofC), the country’s official boxing sanctioning body, has scheduled exciting boxing events for this month of December.

Boxing enthusiasts will have the chance to witness four national title bouts over the course of three days, as confirmed by the organization’s secretary general, Remi Aboderin.

On the 26th of December 2025, Sodiq ‘Happy Boy’ Adeleke will square up against the champion in the Super Bantamweight category, Durotimi ‘Tiny’ Agboola. Whilst Imole ‘System’ Oloyede will do battle with Saddam Oladipupo for the vacant National Lightweight title at the GOtv Boxing Night 34, scheduled for 26 December at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos Island.

The event combines live professional boxing with musical and comedic performances, which has been organised by Flykite Promotions and is also listed among Lagos’ top ‘Detty December’ entertainment attractions. While the much-talked-about light heavyweight between Universal Boxing Organisation (UBO) Africa champion Rasheed ‘ID Buster’ Idowu of Nigeria and Ghana’s Nii Offei Dodoo is also on the night.

Abodering also hinted that on the 28th of December 2025, at the Campos Mini Stadium, also on the Island, De-Lads Promotion of Alh. Wasiu Waheed Alabi will equally showcase two national titles on his bill. Soldier boy Hassan ‘Tiago’ Tiamiyu will defend his National Super Welterweight title against Saheed Abdullahi, whilst in the female Bantamweight category Simisola Popola will contest the Bantamweight female title with Omowunmi Adeola Oyesiji.

“These events promise to be a thrilling night for boxing fans, showcasing top talent and fierce competition. With such significant titles on the line, both fighters and spectators are sure to experience an electrifying atmosphere,” said the NBBofC Scribe.

Aboderin added that “all these developments recently witnessed in Nigerian professional boxing are occasioned by the enabling atmospheres created for the promoters and investors by the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control (NBBofC) and the support from the growing fanbase. As the sport gains momentum, it is anticipated that more young athletes will be inspired to pursue boxing, and further elevating Nigeria’s presence on the international stage.
