The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, has congratulated Oluseye Ojo of The Sun Newspapers on his emergence as the winner of the Ibrahim Shekarau Prize for Education Reporter of the Year at the Nigeria Media Merit Award (NMMA) 2025.
The council described the honour as a fitting recognition of Ojo’s professionalism, consistency, and impactful reporting in the education sector, noting that his work has contributed significantly to public understanding and policy discourse on education in Nigeria.
The congratulatory message was contained in a statement jointly signed by the Chairman, Comrade Akeem Abas, and the Secretary, Dayo Adu, and made available to newsmen on Saturday in Ibadan
The statement recalls that the award adds to Ojo’s growing list of national recognitions, having also won the Notore Chemical Prize for Environment Reporter of the Year at the NMMA 2024, a feat the council said underscores his versatility and commitment to excellence across critical beats.
According to the NUJ Oyo State Council, Ojo’s achievements bring pride not only to his media organisation but also to the journalism profession, serving as motivation for practitioners to uphold ethical standards and pursue in-depth, development-oriented reporting.
The council further noted that Ojo’s current role as National Trustee of the NUJ positions him as a role model for younger journalists, whose career trajectory reflects dedication, integrity, and service to the union and society at large while wishing the award winner continued success and greater accomplishments in his professional endeavours.
