The Ekiti State Director of the National Orientation Agency, Mrs. Oluwakemi Akomolede, has urged residents to support the new tax reforms, describing them as vital for economic growth and fair governance.
She said Nigeria’s tax system has suffered from a narrow tax base, low compliance, and outdated collection methods, limiting government revenue and development.
Mrs. Akomolede explained that the reforms aimed to boost non-oil revenue, expand the tax base, protect low-income earners, simplify tax laws, and strengthen digital tax administration.
The Ekiti NOA Director stressed that public awareness was key to success and called on residents to understand their obligations, comply fully, and encourage others to do the same.
