Veteran Nigerian actress Olanrewaju Hassan Adeshina, popularly known as Mama Awero, has expressed that she will not stop acting until she dies because she cannot engage in any other craft.

The 75-year-old actress, who began her acting career in 1964, made this known in a recent interview, saying, “I will die acting. I have been doing this since 1964, and I don’t know how to do anything else aside from acting. I am also knowledgeable in film costuming because I learned that from my bosses in my early days as an actress.”

It would be recalled that the veteran actress, in an interview in 2013, spoke about her marital struggles, revealing that her husband expected her to quit theater after marriage.

“He didn’t like me being in the industry. When I married him, he thought I would leave the theater. But I didn’t because I wasn’t stealing. I stood my ground. I told him if he couldn’t allow me to continue, then he should leave me alone,” she said at the time.

In the interview, Mama Awero also revealed names of members of the Awada Keri Keri theatre group that many people do not know.

In her words, “Sola Sobowale was a member of the Awada Keri Keri theatre group. Many people know me, Oga Bello, and Papi Luwe, but we also had Prince Jide Kosoko, Yomi Fash Lanso, Ronke Odusanya, Kunle Afod, Bakky Adeoye, the late Funmi Martins, and Dele Odule as members. These names began their career with Awada Keri Keri.”

Mama Awero is a renowned figure in Nollywood with a career spanning six decades since starting with the Ojo Ladipo Theatre Group.
