Super Eagles’ star, Victor Osimhen has expressed confidence in Galatasaray’s ability to compete strongly against Liverpool when both sides clash in tonight’s UEFA Champions League encounter at RAMS Park.
The Turkish champions go into the highly anticipated fixture buoyed by momentum after edging fierce rivals Beşiktaş 1–0 in a crucial domestic league contest over the weekend.
Despite the confidence surrounding the Istanbul giants, Osimhen admitted that facing the English Premier League powerhouse will require focus, discipline and maximum effort.
Speaking to Galatasaray’s official website ahead of the clash, the Nigerian forward acknowledged Liverpool’s pedigree but insisted that the Turkish side believe they can rise to the challenge.
“A win would of course give us extra support and confidence; however, we also need to keep our feet on the ground. Liverpool are a very big and very ambitious team,” Osimhen said.
The former Napoli striker also highlighted the significance of playing in front of the club’s famously passionate supporters, suggesting that the atmosphere at RAMS Park could prove decisive.
“Playing at home could be an advantage for us. If we play a better game in front of our fans, taking lessons from this match, I believe we can get a good result, even if it won’t be easy,” he added.
Osimhen further emphasized the demanding nature of the Champions League, widely regarded as the pinnacle of European club football.
“Every match in the Champions League is already very difficult. We will do our best to perform well there and achieve good results in front of our fans.”
