Renowned gospel singer and evangelist Mama Deborah Adebola Fasoyin, popularly known for the song “Odun n Lo Sopin,” who was earlier reported dead, has been confirmed to be alive.

The National President for the Gospel Musicians Association, Evangelist Philip Olayiwola, in a video shared on Facebook, confirmed that the Oyo-born gospel is still very much alive, hale, and hearty.

“I just received fake news a few hours ago that one of our grandmas, Mama Fasoyin, is late. I want to let you know that our mama, D.O. Fasoyin, is alive, hale, and healthy.

“Please debunk that rumor; Mama is alive,” he said.

The rumor of Mama’s passing had earlier made the rounds on social media, with many pouring out their tributes.

Mama Fasoyin was widely recognized as the powerful voice behind the timeless Yoruba gospel song “Odun Nlo Sopin,” a song that for decades reminded Nigerians that the year was coming to an end and encouraged reflection, gratitude, and prayers for the future.

Mama Fasoyin recently celebrated her 86th birthday on March 1, 2026.

She is a respected gospel singer within the Christ Apostolic Church and beyond, widely known for the popular Yoruba gospel song “Odun n lo Sopin.”

Over the years, her music has remained influential in Nigerian gospel circles, earning her recognition among generations of church music lovers.
