Gubernatorial aspirant and current Oyo State Commissioner for Energy, Professor Dahud Kehinde Shangodoyin, has declared his readiness to lead the state, promising continuity, innovation, and people-focused governance.
Speaking during a recent interview with Isaac Brown on Fresh FM Radio Station in Ibadan, the aspirant emphasized his commitment to service, revealing the personal sacrifices he has made in pursuit of effective leadership.
“I sleep between 1am or 2am to ensure my ministry does not suffer because of my ambition to become governor,” Shangodoyin said, highlighting his dedication to his current role and his vision for higher office.
He stressed the importance of continuity in governance, noting that his administration would build on existing impactful initiatives.
According to him, sustaining progress is key to unlocking Oyo State’s full potential.
“I am convinced that governance should be continuous. I want to consolidate on impactful initiatives,” he stated, adding that his approach would ensure stability while driving further development.
Positioning himself as a strong contender, Shangodoyin pointed to his unique blend of academic excellence and leadership experience.
He noted that his exposure across the continent has equipped him with the insight needed to transform Oyo State into a leading economic hub capable of rivaling Lagos State.
Speaking on the progress made so far in the ministry of energy, Shangodoyin said his ministry has successfully gotten 32 investors who are ready to partner with the state government in the area of electricity.
According to him, once they meet the terms and conditions by the Oyo state government, Licenses will be issued to those chosen.
He hinted that the state government is currently working on IPP 12 Megawatts power plant and will be completed in the next 12 months.
“Once it is ready, epileptic power supply will be a thing of the past in Oyo state.
There are lot of things my ministry has achieved and I will like to do more in a greater capacity for Oyo State.
“I have travelled round the continent. I know what Oyo State needs best to rival Lagos State. My records speak for me,” he said confidently.
The gubernatorial hopeful also outlined his core governance philosophy, which he said would guide his administration if elected: inclusiveness, accountability, innovation, continuity, and efficiency.
Shangodoyin’s remarks reinforce his ambition to position Oyo State as a model of progressive governance, while assuring residents of responsible leadership and sustained development.
