Oba Olufemi Adisa Sodeinde, the Olu of Iju Gbalefa, in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State, has passed away.
According to a press release signed by Prince Edward Olatunji Sodeinde, on behalf of the Sodeinde Royal Family, the esteem monarch, who celebrated his 100 years birthday on the 23rd of February, this year, died peacefully on the 15th of March, 2026.
The release read in part, “the Sodeinde Royal Family, in consultation with the Iju Gbalefa Community, announces with profound sorrow but deep gratitude to God the passing of His Royal Majesty, Oba Olufemi Adisa Sodeinde, the Olu of Iju Gbalefa, who departed peacefully on the 15th of March, 2026.
“Kabiyesi lived an extraordinary life spanning a century, marked by unwavering dedication to public service, community development, and the advancement of his people.
“A distinguished statesman, accomplished agriculturist, and revered traditional ruler, Oba Sodeinde’s contributions to the socio economic growth of Iju Gbalefa, Owu Kingdom, and Ogun State remain enduring and widely acknowledged.
“Throughout his lifetime, Kabiyesi was a pillar of leadership and integrity. His service in politics, his role in strengthening democratic institutions, and his lifelong commitment to the welfare of his community reflected a deep sense of responsibility and vision.
“His pioneering efforts in agriculture and his philanthropic support for education and community infrastructure significantly impacted countless lives.
“In 2018, he ascended the throne as the Olu of Iju Gbalefa, where he brought wisdom, dignity, and stability to traditional leadership, further cementing his legacy as a custodian of culture and a father to many.
“Kabiyesi is survived by children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a wide extended family, as well as a community that continues to benefit from his lifelong service and generosity.
“The family takes solace in the remarkable legacy he leaves behind and in the values he embodied throughout his life. ”
