Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State have endorsed the 2027 gubernatorial ambition of former minister of power and leading APC governorship aspirant, Chief Adebayo Adelabu.
The endorsement was made during a gathering of party stakeholders in Ibadan. Among the leaders present were Alhaji Mufutau Adisa Gbayawu, Hon. Lekan Adeyemo, Alhaji Abu Gbadamosi, Alhaji Isiaka Alimi, Alhaji Wale Sanusi, Chief Goke Oyetunji, Chief Muyibi Oluokun, Alhaji Bao, Hon. Diran Ogundijo, Sunday Adewale, and Alhaji Rasheed Folarin, among others.
The leaders said Adelabu stands out among other aspirants and urged APC members and residents of the state to rally behind him ahead of the 2027 election.
Citing his track record in both the public and private sectors, they described Adelabu as the best candidate to fly the party’s flag in 2027. They assured that, if elected, he would not disappoint the people of Oyo State and would deliver beyond expectations.
Addressing supporters and party members, Adelabu outlined his vision and reasons for seeking the governorship again. He said he was contesting because Oyo State deserves more in terms of leadership and development.
He listed visionary leadership, competent governance, economic transformation, security, stability, and prosperity as the priorities he intends to deliver if elected.
“Governance must go beyond rhetoric to produce measurable development,” he said.
Adelabu stated that his experience, exposure, and administrative capacity had prepared him to move the state from potential to prosperity. He added that capacity, competence, character, compassion, and courage would be central to his administration.
His vision, he said, is to build a greater Oyo State that is economically vibrant, educationally advanced, agriculturally and industrially competitive, socially secure, and inclusive for all.
He stressed that the 2027 election is about the future of children, jobs for youths, safer communities, better schools, stronger healthcare, and inclusive governance.
Adelabu also unveiled his development blueprint, the “Oyo Rebirth Agenda.” The plan covers economic revival, job creation, modern security architecture, effective local government administration, social welfare for the vulnerable, and an agricultural revolution.
Other focus areas include education reform, healthcare transformation, infrastructure and urban development, youth and women empowerment, civil service reforms, and the promotion of culture, tourism, and heritage.
“I offer myself not as a perfect man, but as a prepared leader and a servant committed to delivering results,” he said.
He described the declaration as the start of a movement to restore, rebuild, reposition, and reclaim Oyo State for people-centered governance under the APC.
The event was attended by Engr. Popoola Joshua, Mogaji Abiodun Gbolagade, Asiwaju Seun Olalere, representatives of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) Oyo State Chapter, the Arewa community in Oyo State, TAMPAN, traders, artisans, and other stakeholders.
