Gunmen’s Attack On Oyo Schools: Olugbo Of Orile-Igbon Condemns Development, Sends Condolence Message

The Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, Oba Francis Alao has condemned the attacks by gunmen on Yawota and Esiele communities, Oriire Local Government of Oyo State.

He also sympathized with the families of those who were reportedly killed and kidnapped in the dastardly act.

Armed hoodlums riding motorcycles simultaneously attacked Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota, Community Grammar School and L.A Primary School, Esiele on Wednesday reportedly killing some persons and abducting several pupils and members of staff, including the vice principal, Mrs. Alamu Folawe.

Condemning the attack in a statement, Oba Alao expressed shock, describing the attack as barbaric, and a criminal act that should never be condoned.

The monarch said the communities that came under attack are known to be peaceful where residents cohabit in love and enjoy smooth economic and socio-cultural activities.

Oba Alao expressed profound condolence to the  families who lost their loved ones, and those whose family members and relations were kidnapped by the bandits.

I sympathise with all of the families bearing the emotional weight of this unfortunate incident, and pray God to comfort you.” The monarch prayed.

Oba Alao, who commended security agencies for their swift response to the incident, urged them to intensify efforts at fishing out the bandits so they can face the full weight of the law.

He also called on residents to cooperate with security agencies as they work hard to secure the freedom of those abducted.

He assured that Governor Seyi Makinde and local government chairmen are unrelenting in protecting lives and property as they work closely with traditional rulers across the state.

The monarch also urged residents to report suspected persons and movements to the police to help surveillance and prevent a recurrence of the sad incident.
