The Orashi National Congress (ONC), the apex socio-cultural organization representing the people of the Orashi region, has commended the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, and officers of the Rivers State Police Command for their professionalism, vigilance, and commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state during the ongoing political activities and party primary elections.
In a statement issued by the President-General of the Congress, Senior Comrade Ambassador Emeni Ibe, the organization expressed appreciation to the Police Command for its proactive measures in preventing the breakdown of law and order despite the heightened political atmosphere and other security challenges confronting the state.
The Congress noted that the conduct of security personnel during the various political gatherings and primary elections has contributed significantly to ensuring that democratic processes are carried out in a peaceful and orderly manner. It further acknowledged the efforts of the Police Command in safeguarding lives and property, managing crowds professionally, and responding promptly to security concerns across different parts of Rivers State.
According to the statement, “The Orashi National Congress recognizes the immense responsibility placed on the shoulders of the Rivers State Commissioner of Police and his officers during this sensitive political period. We commend their dedication, neutrality, and commitment to upholding the rule of law while ensuring that citizens exercise their democratic rights without fear or intimidation.”
The Congress also applauded the collaboration between the Police and other security agencies in maintaining stability across the state, stressing that peace and security remain essential ingredients for democratic growth, economic development, and social harmony.
While appreciating the achievements recorded so far, the ONC urged the Police Command to remain steadfast, impartial, and professional in the discharge of its constitutional duties, especially as political activities continue across the state. The organization emphasized the need for all political actors, supporters, and stakeholders to conduct themselves peacefully and avoid actions capable of undermining public order.
The Orashi National Congress reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace, unity, and development in Rivers State and called on residents to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing useful information that would help prevent crime and ensure a safe environment for all.
