Nigeria’s Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu has been nominated for the Turkish Süper Lig Goal of the Season award.
The skillful striker was shortlisted for his spectacular scissor-kick finish in Trabzonspor’s 4-2 victory over Fatih Karagümrük last September.
The spectacular strike was previously named the Turkish Süper Lig’s Goal of the Month for September.
Despite his towering frame, Onuachu displayed remarkable agility, meeting the ball cleanly in mid-air to produce an acrobatic finish that earned widespread acclaim in Turkey.
The 32-year-old also previously won the August Goal of the Month award for his superb header in Trabzonspor’s clash with Samsunspor.
Onuachu, who joined Trabzonspor from Sky Bet Championship outfit Southampton last summer, enjoyed a remarkable campaign with the Black Sea Storm.
The striker finished as the joint top scorer in the 2025/26 Turkish Süper Lig season with 22 goals, sharing the Golden Boot with Eldor Shomurodov of İstanbul Başakşehir.
In doing so, Onuachu became only the sixth player in Trabzonspor’s history to finish a season as the Turkish Süper Lig’s top scorer, further cementing his place in the club’s record books.
Across all competitions, the former KRC Genk striker scored 26 goals and provided two assists in 43 appearances for the Claret and Blue.
His outstanding performances played a key role in Trabzonspor’s successful campaign, further cementing his status as one of the most prolific forwards in Turkish football.
Trabzonspor ended the campaign on a high, lifting the Turkish Cup for a record 10th time after defeating Konyaspor 2-1 in the final.
Onuachu played a crucial role in the hard-fought victory, scoring both goals in the keenly contested encounter.
His compatriots, defender Chibuike Nwaiwu, and experienced striker Anthony Nwakaeme were also part of Trabzonspor’s winning squad.
