Chief Isiaka Asiwaju, the Ashipa of the Idi-Ose community in Akinyele Local Government Area, has asked the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, to make sure that justice is served in the ongoing chieftaincy dispute over the Onidiose of Idi-Ose.

‎Chief Asiwaju, while speaking to the press shortly after the special meeting of traditional rulers in Akinyele Local Government on Wednesday, commended the Traditional Council under the chairmanship of Oba Abiodun Dauda Azeez Agagugu, the Ashipa Balogun of Ibadanland, for promoting peace among the parties involved.

‎The Ashipa of Idi-Ose disclosed that he is the rightful person to the Onidiose throne. He explained that the special meeting by the traditional council was in line with the directive of the Olubadan, following a petition he wrote to reclaim his baaleship position in the community.

‎He said that the Idi-Ose chieftaincy system is a replica of the Ibadan chieftaincy system, which comprises two lines: the Otun and Balogun lines. Asiwaju alleged that the present occupier of the throne belongs to neither line, making him ineligible for the Onidiose throne.

‎He listed Chief Mukaila Lamidi, Ekerin Baale; Chief Waheed Bakare, Osi Balogun; Chief Muhammed Ganiyu, Ashipa Balogun; Chief Rafiu Ajimotokan, Ekarun Baale; Chief Omotosho Olaniyi, Ekerin Balogun; and Chief Ismaheel Akande Jimoh, Maye Balogun, among other chiefs who have been on the queue over the years.

‎Chief Asiwaju, while appreciating Oba Abiodun Azeez Agagugu for adjourning the matter to September to give them the opportunity to present more evidence, revealed that all the listed chiefs are recognized chiefs and are on the payroll of Akinyele Local Government.

‎He appealed to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, to ensure justice prevails in line with his promise to reform the Ibadan traditional council system.
