The family of the late Nigerian actor, Chief (Professor) Adekola “Kola” Oyewo, has expressed appreciation to the numerous individuals, families, organisations, traditional institutions, religious bodies, and well-wishers who supported them following the death of their patriarch.

In a statement signed on Saturday by Dr. Adewale Oyewo on behalf of the family, the family said the prayers, condolence messages, visits, and acts of kindness from across Nigeria and beyond since announcing his passing were a great source of support.

The statement read: “These expressions of sympathy have brought immense comfort and strength to our family during this difficult time. Our beloved patriarch was a respected community leader, accomplished professional, devoted family man, and distinguished traditional title holder whose life was defined by service, integrity, and commitment to the development of his people.

The tributes received in his honour reflect the lasting impact he made on countless lives.

“We extend our special appreciation to the Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, for his thoughtful condolence message and prayers. We are equally grateful to His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife, for his words of comfort and support, which have been a great source of encouragement to the family.

“Our deepest appreciation goes to His Royal Majesty, Oba (Prof.) Adekunle Ashamu Oyeyemi (Tewogbade I), the Oloba of Oba-Ile, for his fatherly support and prayers, as well as the Oloba-in-Council. Our sincere thanks also go to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, GCON, Waziri of Adamawa, for his kind message of sympathy and solidarity during this period of mourning.

We further appreciate all community associations, professional colleagues, including NANTAP and TAMPAN, the academic community of the universities where our dear father served, namely Obafemi Awolowo University, Redeemer’s University, Ekiti State University, and Elizade University, as well as friends and well-wishers who have stood by us with prayers and support.

As we continue preparations to celebrate the life and legacy of our dearly departed father, we humbly request your continued prayers and support for the family. May Almighty God grant his soul eternal rest.” The statement read.
