A rare and striking union unfolded in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State, where twin brothers married twin sisters in a combined wedding ceremony held on Saturday.
Oguntoye Taiwo Oye tied the knot with a bride who also bears the name Taiwo, while his twin brother, Oguntoye Kehinde Oladele, married a bride named Kehinde.
The couples announced their union in a joint Facebook post, also sharing images from their traditional engagement held on Friday.
“Twins wed twins!!! Yesterday’s traditional wedding was simply amazing! We are grateful to God and everyone who celebrated with us,” they wrote.
“Today is the grand finale as the most famous twins in African tourism say ‘I Do’! Taiwo & Taiwo. Kehinde & Kehinde. All glory, honour, and adoration belong to God for making this day a reality,” the post read.
In a separate post, they added: “Engagement done and dusted! What started as a dream is now a testimony. Thankful for love, family, friends, and God’s endless grace. Here’s to forever!”
Photos from the traditional wedding have circulated on social media, drawing congratulatory messages from friends, family, and well-wishers.
In Yoruba culture, the firstborn of twins is traditionally named Taiwo, meaning “taste the world,” while the second is named Kehinde, meaning “the one who came after.”
The matching names and double ceremony have been described by commenters online as rare.
The reception held to celebrate the twins’ union was held inside the glamorous University of Ibadan’s International Conference Center on Saturday, June 20, 2026 and it was attended by the creamiest in the society.
Popular Adegbodu Twins Band entertained all the epochal event.
