The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Oyo State House of Assembly in the Lagelu State Constituency, Arc. Hassan Olawale Giwa (HOG) has received the Odua News Award of Excellence.
Giwa received the award at the office of the newspaper outfit in the Adamasingba area of Ibadan on Monday. He dedicated the honour to the people of Lagelu Local Government and his supporters across the country and beyond.
The APC House of Assembly candidate appreciated the management of the newspaper organisation for the recognition, describing the award as a reward for his service to humanity and community development.
The award was presented by the Chairman of Aryfad Travels Limited, Mr. Adewale Raymond Adeyinka.
Speaking after receiving the award, Giwa said: “I am deeply honoured to have received an Award of Excellence from Odua News today in recognition of the work we have been doing through the HOG Foundation.
“I dedicate this award to all our supporters, partners, and volunteers whose unwavering commitment has brought us to this significant milestone in Lagelu Local Government and beyond.
“Thank you for believing in us. This is just the beginning.”
Earlier, in his welcome address, the editor of Odua News, Mr. Richard Thomas, described Giwa as a man of integrity whose impact is felt by people across the society.
Thomas said the initiative behind the award was aimed at recognising individuals who think beyond themselves by extending philanthropic gestures to members of the public, particularly the less privileged.
Also speaking, the Deputy Editor of the media organisation, Mr. Bode Akinbode, appreciated Giwa for honouring the invitation.
He said the award was organised as part of activities commemorating the 25th anniversary of the media establishment.
