A newly engaged couple and four other persons were abducted on Saturday in Kwara State.
The couple identified as Funmilayo Bamidele and her husband, Rev. Abiodun David, and others were kidnapped in border areas of Eruku-Iyemero Road in between Kogi and Kwara states.
It was gathered that the couple were returning from their engagement ceremony in Eruku when they were abducted alongside four others.
Sources said the vehicle was expected to take the Isanlu Road, but the driver chose a back road in order to drop off the best man and other members of the group in Iyamoye, Kogi State.
The incident occurred on Iyemero-Eruku Road.
The Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, confirmed the incident, saying that soldiers were combing the bush to fish out perpetrators and free the couple.
The commissioner, who said the vehicle, in which the couple were travelling, was parked at an abandoned police station in Ayetoro, Ekiti State, added that police operatives in the affected three states were carrying out rescue since the crime was committed in the border communities of the three states.
