Atalanta forward, Ademola Lookman continues to be in demand in the summer transfer window as English Premier League side West Ham and Spanish La Liga giants Atletico Madrid are currently plotting a swoop for the Nigerian.
According to Sky in France, West Ham are interested in the Nigerian forward as they continue talks with Tottenham over a deal for Mohammed Kudus while Mundo Deportivo via Atletico Universe has also reported that Atletico are considering signing Lookman.
Lookman, who has a contract with Atalanta until 2027, has been touted to leave the Serie A club this summer.
His current valuation is between €50m and €60m while the Hammers are demanding £65m for the Ghana international as Spurs continue their pursuit. This means if Kudus completes a move away from West Ham, the Hammers will be able to fund a transfer for Lookman.
Amid interest from Atletico Madrid, the former Fulham and Everton winger is said to be keen on a return to the Premier League. Arsenal are also also said to be interested in the 27-year-old.
“Lookman’s profile matches what Atlético is seeking to strengthen the team’s attack following Angel Correa’s departure. They want a skilful winger who can take on defenders and dribble — something Simeone has been lacking in recent times,” Atletico Universe wrote.
West Ham’s approach for Lookman appears to depend on Kudus’ future, so they will aim to receive some clarity over the Ghana international’s intentions in the coming days.
Although West Ham have rejected an initial bid of €50m for the Ghana international, reports suggest he is keen on a move to Spurs, which may open the door for the Hammers to move for Lookman.
Having previously featured for Everton, Fulham and Leicester City in the EPL, Lookman has made 96 appearances in the English topflight, scoring 11 goals and six assists.
Lookman is however no longer the man they used to know in England as he has developed into a star in Italy, providing 80-goal involvements in 118 games with Atalanta.
Since joining Atalanta in 2022, the Super Eagles star has been in scintillating form, scoring 55 goals and providing 25 assists across all competitions. He netted a famous hat-trick in the 2024 UEFA Europa League final, helping the club secure a historic European title.
