AC Milan reportedly made a late push to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli “a couple of transfer windows ago,” a move that eventually forced Napoli to adjust the striker’s contract.
According to Sky reports, Zlatan Ibrahimović personally led Milan’s attempt to bring in the Nigerian forward before finalising his own switch to Galatasaray, initially on loan and later permanent.
Juventus were also monitoring the situation, raising the possibility that Osimhen could move to a Serie A rival.
Napoli resisted, however, and later inserted a special clause when negotiating Osimhen’s transfer.
Football journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed on his YouTube channel that the deal included an “anti-Italy clause,” which prevents Galatasaray from selling the striker to any Italian club.
“Napoli sold him on their terms after a long tug-of-war, also including an anti-Italy clause: it’s a clause that prevents the Turks from selling the player to an Italian club,” Romano explained.
