The Ekiti State Internal Revenue Service (EKIRS) has announced the closure of the window for filing Annual Tax Returns by corporate organisations in the state.
In a public notice issued on February 16, 2026, and signed by its Executive Chairman, Olaniran Olatona, the Service stated that the extended deadline expired on Friday, February 13, 2026.
EKIRS recalled that it had earlier granted a two-week extension from January 30 to February 13, 2026, to enable taxpayers and Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE) collecting agents to regularise their filings, ensure compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations, and avoid penalties.
With the expiration of the deadline, the Service emphasised that penalties for late filing would now apply. According to the notice, defaulting corporate organisations are required to pay ₦100,000 for the first month of default and ₦50,000 for each subsequent month.
The Service, however, clarified that individual tax filing remains open until March 31, 2026, for individual taxpayers.
Taxpayers and PAYE collecting agents were reminded that filings can be completed through the EKIRS online portal.
While appreciating the cooperation and understanding of taxpayers, EKIRS reaffirmed its commitment to efficient service delivery and improving the overall taxpayer experience in the state.
