Former Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, Ademola Babalola, has marked his 50th birthday with heartfelt gratitude to God, his late parents, family members, friends, mentors, and everyone who has contributed to his journey.
Babalola, fondly known as DEMBAB, reflected on the milestone in a message of thanksgiving, recalling the sacrifices of his parents who, according to him, gave their absolute best to raise and nurture him.
Celebrating five decades of life, the journalist expressed gratitude that he was able to reciprocate his parents’ love and sacrifices within the limits of his means while they were still alive.
He wrote, “50 years ago, my parents of blessed memory brought me into this world. They gave their absolute best. Alhamdulillah, I was able to repay their kindness within the limits of my means while they were still with us.”
Babalola also acknowledged the important role played by his siblings, immediate and extended family, wife, and children in his life, describing their support as invaluable.
He extended his appreciation to his leaders, teachers, friends, and well-wishers, as well as everyone who has stood by him throughout his personal and professional journey.
According to him, their love, prayers, and support have been instrumental in shaping his journey over the years.
“To everyone who has supported me thus far, thank you for your love, prayers, and support. May God reward your labor of love. Amen,” he stated.
Rather than dwelling solely on the significance of attaining 50, Babalola used the occasion to look ahead with optimism and renewed faith as he begins what he described as a new chapter of his life.
He prayed for greater blessings from Allah, good health, fresh opportunities, and lasting joy in the years ahead.
Babalola also prayed for long life, an expanded sphere of influence and abundant provision, while asking for continued good health and happiness.
“As I step into a new chapter, I pray for more of Allah’s blessings, good health, opportunities, and joy on this journey,” he said.
He further prayed, “May the Almighty Allah grant me long life, expand my coast, and provide for all my needs abundantly in good health and happiness. Amin.”
The 50th birthday milestone offers Babalola an opportunity not only to celebrate longevity but also to reflect on a journey marked by family, journalism, leadership, relationships, and service.
His message also carries a recurring theme of gratitude—recognising the people whose sacrifices, guidance, prayers, and encouragement have helped shape the man he has become.
As DEMBAB enters his sixth decade, his birthday message is ultimately one of thanksgiving for the past, appreciation for the present, and faith in the future.
