A resurfaced video featuring the three daughters of Nigerian billionaire businessman, Aliko Dangote has sparked reactions online after Halima Dangote said she and her sisters were not “spoilt” despite growing up in a wealthy family.
The video, which was widely shared on X on Saturday, was taken from Bloomberg’s Next Africa special featuring Dangote’s daughters, Halima, Mariya and Fatima. The interview was filmed at the family’s home in Lagos and published by Bloomberg in August 2026.
In the clip, Halima explained that she and her sisters had deliberately kept a low profile, saying they preferred to let their professional achievements speak for them.
Not ‘Spoilt’
“We are not spoilt,” she said.
Explaining her comment, Halima said, “Any time we meet with our co-peers — like the kids of our dad’s friends, or people that we’re supposed to — we don’t… I mean, everyone has his own job. We are more… we’re quiet in the sense that we don’t say who we are.
“It’s, I don’t know if it’s fortunate or unfortunate, now people recognise us. But it was easier when we were not recognised; you know, our results speak for themselves.”
She added that unlike some people who were comfortable with public attention and social media, she and her sisters were not expressive about their wealth or possessions.
“I mean, some people are really comfortable with social media, with being known, with being expressive. I don’t think we are — all three of us are not expressive of what we have or what we own or what we’re doing,” she said.
According to Halima, the sisters preferred to be judged by their professional performance and the results of their work.
“I think, like Fatima and Mariya said, the results are just the ones speaking for themselves: the sale of this business, the profit of this, the EBITDA, our growth, growing to $100 billion. We are all in those key positions and, I mean, numbers don’t lie,” she added.
Comments
The comments have since generated reactions from social media users, with some praising the sisters’ low-key approach to their family’s wealth and public profile.
Reacting to the video, an X user, #Khaleelmuhd111, wrote that Dangote had done well in keeping his children “from controversy and out of the spotlight,” while also allowing them to take up leadership roles in his businesses.
Another user, #MaameAfibaBessa, praised the sisters as “intelligent and fine women” who were successfully running businesses, while criticising questions about whether Dangote planned to have a male child.
“This is the definition of wealth, now Aliko can sleep with his eyes closed,” #Sirdipson wrote.
Similarly, #MukAli_14 interpreted Halima’s comments as a reflection of humility among wealthy people, writing, “People with money, real money are always humble.”
However, #BulusPaul9 focused on the sisters’ comments about social media, writing, “Who cares about SM, many of us just come to see the world from another angle and catch cruise with some frustrated country people. Real-life experience and enjoyment is OFFLINE.”

Dangote had previously said he could see one of his daughters eventually leading the group.
Asked whether he could see one of them taking charge of the conglomerate, Dangote said, “I think, yes, I can see one of them. I’ve been watching all of them, so I can definitely see one of the three that can actually lead.”
