The General Manager of the Oyo State Sports Council (OYSSC), Mrs. Olubisi Jejelola Adegoke, has retired from active service after attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60.
Adegoke officially bowed out of service on Thursday, October 15, 2026, following years of dedicated and meritorious service to the Oyo State Government, with significant contributions to sports administration and development in the state.
Her retirement marks the end of an illustrious career spanning several roles in sports administration, during which she contributed to the growth and management of sports in Oyo State.
Before her appointment as general manager of the OYSSC, Adegoke served with Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), where she gained experience in club administration. She later served as a director of sports at the Ministry of Youth and Sports before assuming office as general manager of the Oyo State Sports Council in June 2026.
Although her tenure as general manager was relatively brief, she was recognised for her leadership style, commitment to staff welfare, and efforts to promote unity within the council.
Adegoke was known for emphasising teamwork and fostering cooperation among management, staff, coaches, sports officers, and athletes to achieve the council’s objectives. Her leadership approach was characterised by mutual respect, inclusiveness, and an appreciation of the contributions of every member of the organisation.
She also maintained cordial relationships with staff, encouraging collaboration and a shared sense of responsibility towards advancing sports development across the state.
As she formally exits active public service, members of the Council’s management and workforce, including coaches, sports officers, and athletes, have celebrated her contributions and dedication to the organisation.
A symbolic highlight of her retirement was the transition from her familiar tracksuit to the traditional Iro and Buba, representing the close of her professional journey in public service and the beginning of a new phase of life.
The transition reflects her move from the demands of sports administration to a period of rest, reflection, family life, and personal fulfillment after years of service.
Members of the OYSSC expressed appreciation for Adegoke’s leadership, commitment, and positive relationships with colleagues during her time at the Council. They also acknowledged her efforts to promote harmony and cooperation within the organisation.
The Council further celebrated her for reaching the retirement milestone in good health, describing her years of service as worthy of recognition and appreciation.
In its retirement message, the OYSSC management and staff wished Adegoke a peaceful and fulfilling retirement, alongside continued good health, happiness, and meaningful contributions to her family, community, and society.
The Council expressed gratitude for her service, sacrifice, and dedication to sports development in Oyo State, while celebrating the legacy she leaves behind.
Although Adegoke has officially dropped the tracksuit, her contributions to sports administration and the relationships she built during her years of service remain part of her professional legacy.
