The Caretaker Chairman of Ibadan West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Aleshinloye, Hon. Yomi Adefusi has confirmed the determination of his administration to embark on the clearing of drainage channels in order to sustain the efforts of the state government on clean and healthy environment.

Adefusi stated this while speaking with journalists at the end of the state’s weekly environmental sanitation, which he monitored with his council team at Apata, Ibadan on Thursday.

The council boss also stated that the maintenance of a clean environment was a collective responsibility, adding that everyone should take active interest in keeping their environment clean.

Hon. Adefusi, however, condemned the attitude of blocking drainage channels with refuse, adding that it has negative effects on sanitation and health.

He then enjoined people in the council area to desist from indiscriminate dumping of refuse and noted that the public should dispose refuse properly in waste bins located on streets in order to achieve a perfect clean environment.

While moving on inspection around Apata area, the council boss who visited Agbekoya Market, lauded the marketmen and women for the level of sanitation exhibited by them, which he said was a good one.

He, similarly, expressed the same happiness when he visited the sawmill and Adifase Health Centre of the council. There, he confirmed that the people and staff of the health centre trooped out to participate in the weekly environmental sanitation.

Hon. Adefusi urged the people of the council area to contribute meaningfully to the development of the state by paying their taxes and levies as expected of them by the government in order to boost the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state.
