Nigeria international striker, Emmanuel Emenike is facing a lengthy ban and may miss this Sunday’s all important clash with rival, Besiktas after he was spotted by cameras allegedly insulting a Tunisian international, Ali Yacoubi  in last weekend’s Fenerbahce 2-1 win over Rizespor in the Turkish League.

Emenike who recently returned to the Turkish side, made his first appearance for Fenerbahce in 2017 and was picked by cameras during the game covering his nose and sniffing at Yacoubi in the closing stages of the game.

The reaction has since prompted Rizespor fans calling on the Turkish Super Lig to ban him from featuring against Besitkas this weekend according to a report on Turkish daily, Haberturk.

Reacting to the incident, the General Secretary of Fenerbahce, Mahmut Uslu said Emenike committed no offence.

“We did not see anything and we do not have any comment about Emenike and Yacoubi in the question whether any sanctions would be made regarding the matter,” Uslu told Haberturk.

“We will respond if any sanction is made. The Besiktas derby is more than match.”

Third place Fenerbahce face current league leaders, Besiktas in a derby next Sunday.

“There is more to this match, I cannot say anything at this time,” Uslu added.
