The Ahmed Markafi led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun state yesterday explained that it cross carpeted to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) tentatively in order to field candidate for July 8 bye- election into Osun West Senatorial district.

Addressing journalists in Osogbo on Thursday, the SDP candidate for the Osun West Senatorial district, Hon. Michael Ajibade Falade said the Makarfi led PDP has been having meetings with some political parties in order to form a mega party.

Falade said that the National Caretaker Committee gave them the go ahead to form alliance with SDP for the purpose of the July 8 bye-election.

Falade who was once a former member of the House of Representatives between 2007/2011 and represented Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore/Ejigbo federal constituency under the PDP, said he was an active member of PDP until the internal crisis in the party.

He noted that political alliance will continue to be formed over time as it is a dynamic thing.

The SDP senatorial candidate said he is armed to represent his people effectively saying that he has everything it takes to win the election.

“I have the required experience as former member of the House of Representatives. The National Assembly is a place where experience counts a lot.

“I know what is going on in the four local governments I have represented. It is going to be a serious business. We are going to put in everything possible to win the election”.
