Super Eagles’ coordinator, Patrick Paschal has sent a message to the teeming fans of the team to expect an improved and impressive performance ahead of their crucial matche against Cameroon.
The two back to back 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers will be played in Uyo, Nigeria on 1 September 2017 and Yaounde, Cameroon three days later.
This will be Nigeria’s first competitive match since losing 2-0 to South Africa in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier in Uyo two months ago.
Paschal urged Nigerians to forget the past, but expect an impressive performance from the super Eagles.
“That Nigeria lost to South Africa in the AFCON qualifiers does not mean we cannot beat Cameroon,” Paschal said.
“Remember that after the loss which was of course the AFCON, we went ahead to qualify for CHAN, but this is world cup qualifiers.”
The home-based Super Eagles recently qualified for the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) after defeating Benin 2-1 on aggregate.
They are sitting at the top of their World Cup qualifying group (Group B) and two wins over Cameroon will see Nigeria edge closer to qualifying for the finals.
