Ogun Justice Ministry Says It Has Disposed Off 120 Cases At High Courts

The Ministry of Justice in Ogun State has announced that it has successfully disposed off a total of 120 cases at the State High Court,  just as four appeals were disposed off at the Supreme Court.

The State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice,  Dr. Olumide Ayeni disclosed this while receiving members of the State House of Assembly Committee on Justice, Ethics and Public Petitions led by Hon. Adebowale Ojuri represented by Hon. Oyenuga Olufowobi on oversight visit to appraise the 2017 budget performance of the ministry.

Ayeni, represented by the Director,  Legislative Drafting,  Mr. Segun Olaotan said a total of 75 appeals were disposed off at the Court of Appeal, while seven cases were concluded at the Magistrate Courts.

According to him,  133 number of information were also filed with 329 legal advices issued, adding  that about 10 bills among which were amended were drafted during the period.

Responding,  the Committee Chairman,  Hon. Ojuri in company of Honourables Akinpelu Aina,  Adebiyi Adeleye, Oyenuga Olufowobi and Ganiyu Oyedeji commended the ministry for its commitment towards strengthening justice system in the State,  while encouraging it to improve on the pace of justice delivery and revenue generation.

The Committee was earlier at the State Judiciary,where communities in the State were charged to emulate the exemplary gesture of Isara Community which donated a structure for magistrate court and residential quarters.

In the same vein the House Committee on Public Accounts led by Hon. Oyenuga Olufowobi also paid an oversight visit to the Office of the State Auditor General and its Local Government counterpart, where the managements were charged to continue to work relentlessly at ensuring blockage of revenue leakages and ensure value for money.
