The Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi has said that the town hall meeting organized by Hon. Olatoye Temitope Sugar will continue to bring members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) together in the state.

The governor said this at the meeting held at Rolat Event Center, General Gas, Ibadan by Honourable Olatoye Sugar, member representing Lagelu/Akinyele federal constituency at the House of Representatives, Abuja to give account of his stewardship.

Governor Abiola Ajimobi, who was represented by his Executive Adviser on Political Matters, Dr. Moronkola Thomas, disclosed that his decision to support Hon. Sugar to contest the House of Representatives seat in 2015 election has been justified, saying that Hon. Sugar is one of the state’s representatives in Abuja that is making the state proud, particularly in ensuring that dividends of democracy reach the people at the grassroots.

Governor Ajimobi urged other representatives of the party at national and state levels to identify with the people of their constituencies by giving them feedback on what they have been able to do in the last two and half years of their representation, and as well carry the party leadership at the state level along on their various activities.

On the preparation for the forthcoming local government elections in the state, Governor Ajimobi assured party members that before the end of this week all the names of local government caretaker Committee members will be announced, while those of the boards would be announced next week to make them adequately ready.

Governor Ajimobi charged them to continue to work together for the party to emerge victorious in the local government elections coming up in the first quarter of next year.

While responding to questions from the people of his constituency, Hon. Olatoye Sugar stated that with the support and understanding from the people from his political territory he has been able to raise the bar of legislative representation by enriching the lives of members of his constituency and beyond through various verifiable projects.

He listed provision of infrastructure facilities like roads, modern boreholes electric transformers and free healthcare services to various individuals across various communities as part of contributions towards improving welfare of the people, apart from his legislative duties of making laws and oversight functions at the National Assembly.

Hon. Olatoye Sugar said that the idea of holding the town hall meeting was not to showcase all he has been doing for praising purpose, but to submit himself for serious public scrutiny within the context of legislative deliverables and stewardship by the people of his constituency.

Agbaakin Olubadan of Ibadanland, who is also the moderator at the event, Chief Lekan Alabi, while commending the organizer of the event, implored members of the public not to seek assistance from politicians on frivolous things alone, but they should hold them responsible on their various electioneering campaign promises.

He also called on other representatives from the state, irrespective of party affiliations to emulate Hon. Olatoye Sugar, who deemed it fit to submit himself to the people of his constituency.

At the event were traditional rulers across Lagelu/Akinyele federal constituency led by Oba Hamidu Ajibade, APC Vice Chairman in Oyo State, Isiaka Alimi, former House of Assembly members, Hon. Murphy Adigun Hammed and Sikiru Alli and APC party supporters from Lagelu and Akinyele Local Governments.
