It was jubilation all the way for the families of Adebisi and residents of Idikan area and environs of Ibadan, when the first Jumat service was observed at the Chief Sanusi Giwa Adebisi Mosque recently.

The decision to observe the Jumat service at the mosque, which has been in existence since 1948 was sequel to the approval given by the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheik Abdulganniyy Agbotomokekere.

While speaking shortly after the Jumat service, daughter of one of the founding fathers of the mosque, Alhaji Hassan Adebayo Amoo, Ambassador Romoke Ayinde, stated that the approval to observe Jumat service at the mosque was a welcome development. She added that the approval to observe the Jumat will be an avenue to allow Muslim sons and daughters of families and every Muslim umah living or trading around Idikan and environs to contribute to the propagation of Islam.

Ambassador Ayinde, the Proprietress at Kayrom Lee Gym and Fitness Centre, Obafemi Awolowo Stadium urged the committee in charge of the mosque not to rest on their oars by ensuring that the Jumat service approval translates to development of the mosque and environment in general.

Ambassador Ayinde, who is also a Principal partner of Ministry of Youths and Sports, Zone 1 implored all Muslim Umah to contribute their quota towards  changing the face of the mosque to meet up with standards.

Also in his contribution, Chairman of the Committe in charge of the mosque, Chief Lateef Adesolan Gbedemuke expressed his happiness for the Jumat service, saying that it was as a result of help from God with support from people that made it possible.

He stated that the committee in charge of the mosque is working and will continue to work to ensure necessary things that will allow hitch-free Jumat prayer are put in place.

The Chief Imam of the mosque, Alhaji Tajudeen Ayilara commended the Chief Imam of Ibadanland for the gesture, despite the fact that the agitation for the approval for the Jumat service had been pegged for a long time.

He thanked and prayed for everyone who, in one way or the other contributed to the success of the struggle.

Another member of the struggle, Prince Lekan Adebisi thanked Almighty Allah for the opportunity to witness the development and promised that they will all work to improve on the structure of the mosque.
