Hosts Country, Morocco kicked off their CHAN campaigns with a massive routing of little Mauritania on Saturday.
The Competition’s first goals came in the second half by Ayoub El Kaabi, who scored a double, and a goal by Ismail El Haddad and Achraf Bencharki gave the Host country an overwhelming victory.
Mauritania had kept the hosts to a goalless first half, Their resolute spirit was finally broken in the 66th minute when El Kaabi hit the offside trap before placing the ball under the goalkeeper to put his team a goal up .
In the 72nd minute, Morocco had a 2-0 lead thanks to El Haddad, whose low shot went under the goalkeeper and entered the net.
El Kaabi got his second of the day and third from Morocco in 80 minutes when he landed a low left-footed shot in the bottom left corner.
And in the 92nd minute, Bencharki completed the defeat by attacking with a long pass and surrounded the goalkeeper before putting the ball into an empty net.
Morocco’s next game is against Guinea on Wednesday, while Mauritania will also face Sudan on Wednesday.
