Super Eagles attacker, Moses Simon has been ruled out for six weeks after suffering an injury to the ligaments of the right ankle.

The Gent star, Moses got injured during a friendly game between his club and Nürnberg a week ago in Spain.

The Nigeria international’s injury is a big blow to Yves Vanderhaeghe who won’t be able to count on the services of the winger for the upcoming Belgian First Division A match against Lokeren.

In addition, Simon will miss games against Antwerp, Club Brugge, AS Eupen and Sint-Truiden while he is doubtful to face Mechelen and Waasland-Beveren.

The injury sustained by the Eagles winger could also affect his fitness ahead of the FIFA World Cup holding in Russia.

The 22-year-old Moses Simon crashed to the ground after 24 minutes in the encounter eventually won 1-0 by Gent.

There were fears that he had broken his leg.

The former Ajax player was rushed to a hospital for urgent attention.

However, it was good news for Nigeria as Brussels-based newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws reported late on Tuesday that Simon only suffered a serious leg wound.
