- Opposes Giving Party Tickets To ‘Foreigners’
A chieftain of the People Democratic Party in Oyo state and close associate of one time governor of the state, Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala, Engineer Femi Babalola (a.k.a. Jogor) has said his former leader, Otunba Alao Akala and Senator Teslim Folarin, who recently decamped to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) are just on ‘sabbatical leave’.
Speaking on Fresh 105.9 FM Radio and monitored in Ibadan by PMParrot, Engineer Babalola said the blood of the People Democratic Party (PDP) are in both Otunba Akala and Senator Teslim Folarin as it is in former Governor, Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja, so they can not fit into any other political party but the PDP.
Engineer Babalola, who was on Fresh FM radio’s political programme “Dende oro” said the only democratic political party in Nigeria today is the PDP and it is the only party that can salvage the country.
He said there is no way, former Governor Akala and former Senate leader, Senator Teslim Folarin will not return to the People Democratic Party, because it is the political party that made them.
Stressing his ambition to be the next governor of the state, the engineer and famous event centre operator said he was in politics and his interest in politics is uplifting the people.
While berating those who regarded politics as dirty game, the politician said it was those who do not want people with good idea in politics that use the slogan to turn people away and scare them from politics.
Babalola, who said he started his politics, right from the time he was an undergraduate student at the University of Ibadan, said it was time for Oyo central zone to produce the next governor of Oyo state because other zones of Oyo south and north have got their shares.
He said “now it is the turn of Oyo central”
He went further to enjoin other members of the PDP, who have served as governors, senators and honourable members of the house to relax from gunning for any sensitive and prestigious position, like that of the governor.
Instead, he said they should start playing advisory roles so as to train and lead younger politicians on how to achieve good governance.
Expressing his ambition, Engineer Babalola said though he is from Oyo Central, he did all his things in Ibadan, for instance, he went to school in Ibadan, he met his wife in Ibadan and it was in Ibadan that he started working.
He also spoke on giving out of tickets of political parties to those he described as ‘foreigners’.
His words “It is an insult to those of us in live in Oyo State when those who live in London, Abuja, New York and other cities come in and are given party tickets to become Representatives, Senators and so on. It is an insult to see these people being made our leaders in the party.
He urged the people of the state to shine their eyes when the time comes for leaders to be elected for another four years.
