19 Salient Points To Note About Florence Ajimobi@59

There is no gainsaying the fact that stars will ever shine no matter the situation or conditions they find themselves.

Essentially, the ability to shine is a divine endowment from God and this opportunity is given to very few.

One of the ‘few’ being referred to here is the wife of the Governor of Oyo State, Chief (Dr) Mrs Florence Ajimobi. And her 59^th birthday was marked on Thursday, April 5, 2019.

1. She was born on April 5, 1959 in Benin City to the Hajaig Family of Lebanon
2. She grew up in Ibadan.
3. She attended Bodija International School.
4. Had her secondary education at Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School.
5. She is also a ‘Great Polyte’ as she was at the Polytechnic, Ibadan where she studied  Secretarial Studies and Management.
6. She got her first job at the then leading Insurance brokerage firm in Ibadan, Femi Johnson & Co.
7. She got married to her extremely handsome husband then, Abiola Ajimobi, a Muslim in 1980 and the union has since been blessed with five children – four females and a male (who recently got married too…).
8. After her marriage, she got employed by Biodun Shobanjo’s Insight Communications Limited in Lagos. She also worked at RT Briscoe, an international auto sales firm.
9. Afterwards, she launched out as an Entrepreneur with her own sales outlets.
10. When her husband became a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, she was quick to play the role of a ‘Mediator’ between her Man and his publics including Politicians, electorate and others.
11. As Wife of the Governor of Oyo State, she stands in his restoration, transformation and repositioning agenda for the state. Thus, she embarked on laudable projects for the betterment of the lives of the good people of the State, particularly, the lives of vulnerable children. Notable among her pet projects she embarked upon are;

–          Creation of mini clinics for widows and the aged.

–          Establishment of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre for women in public service;

–          Empowerment of women of different cadres in the society;

–          Establishment of Access to Basic Medical Care (ABC) Foundation – which is aimed at providing easy access to basic medical care;

–          The Ajumose Food Bank – a monthly food provision support programme for the family.

–          Educate a Rural Child Project – providing educational materials for indigent children thereby bridging the gap between the children in the rural and urban areas.

11. Florence Ajimobi is a devoted Christian. She was ordained as a Deaconess recently.
12. She has promised to become a Minister of God by the time she attains the age of 60.

13. She established a prayer gathering called, ‘Women Intercessory Network’ (WIN) where she leads the women in the State to intercede for their homes, the State and the Nation at large. It comes at every two months at the government House Arcade, Agodi, Ibadan.
14. She also initiated the Oyo State Officials’ Wives Association (OYSOWA) summit with the sole aim of bringing together all wives of politically-elected and appointed officials in the State to support the vision of the State government.
15. Mrs Ajimobi has been able to successfully combine her office as the Wife of the Governor of the State with her career as a business woman. She has also remained dutiful as a wife and mother of her children.
16. In her chequered life which had been characterized by passionate service to humanity long before she became the Wife of the Governor of Oyo State, has earned her recognition from both local and international organizations. Among them are:

–          Award of honour by NigeriansTradesmen and Artisans’ Union of Oyo State;

–        Award of Excellence by the Association of Primary School Head Teachers, Oyo State Chapter;

–         The Diaspora Champion Award of Excellence for her efforts in enabling Nigerians in the Diaspora;

–          The Ibadan descendant Union, Washington DC award of Excellence for helping flood victims in Ibadan and for creating positive changes in the community;

–          Travelscope Magazine Merit award in recognition of her unflinching commitment to HIV/AIDs prevention; to mention but a few.

16. Mrs Florence Ajimobi has been able to make positive impact in the lives of numerous people through her humanitarian service to mankind. Through her diverse initiatives, she has improved the standard of living of the people as she stands by her husband, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the Executive Governor of Oyo State to deliver dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of the people in the State.
17. On personal note, she goes out of her way to put smiles on the faces of people. Watch her when next you meet her at a public event!
18. Her children’s names are Ajibola Ajmobi, Ajijola Oluwa Ajimobi, Abolaji Ajimobi, Abimbola Ajimobi, Abisola Kolapo-Kola Daisi.
19. On a final note and like any other confident, cerebral, level-headed and loved wife, she is key to many of the decisions made by her enigmatic husband and Governor of Oyo State, Senate Abiola Ajimobi.
