Engineer Seyi Makinde, one of the governorship aspirants in Oyo State’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to the smooth organization of the Ekiti governorship primary of the party on Tuesday that produced Professor Olusola Kolapo Eleka.

Makinde thus, congratulated members of the party in Ekiti state and the National headquarters of the party for a successful and model governorship primary. He recommended such political maturity, for other state chapters in the country, and most especially the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Engineer Makinde stated this in a statement issued by the Director, Seyi Makinde Campaign organisation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, and released to journalists in Ibadan on Wednesday.

Makinde said the Ekiti governorship primary election held in a democratic atmosphere on Tuesday has clearly demonstrated that the PDP is far better at political conflict management  than the ruling party which rely heavily on propaganda.

The governorship hopeful under the platform of PDP, said the Delta State governor, Ifeanyi Okowa-led committee that conducted the governorship primary election has clearly given an impetus upon which other state chapters of the party can emulate to elect their flag bearer without rancour in an open exercise.

Olusola, the incumbent deputy governor of Ekiti, in the peaceful exercise won the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the July 14 governorship election by polling 1,190 while Adeyeye polled 770 votes.

Makinde further stated that this should be replicated, especially in Oyo state PDP so that the party can crush the divided ruling party in the state, APC, which is currently engrossed in crisis of conducting a free and fair  ward congresses in the last one week.

“The open, free and fiar governorship primary election that produced produced His Excellency, Professor Olusola Kolapo Eleka as the governorship candidate in the July 28 election is a clear testimony to the fresh breath of internal democracy exhibited by the Chief Uche Secondus led national executive since they came on board.

“I also call on other chapters of the party to emulate the Ekiti state model, most importantly Oyo PDP to put us in good stead to deliver the good people of Oyo from the shackles of political dictator who has held the state captive for the past few years.”

Makinde also called on Oyo state chapter of the party to take a clue from what their counterpart in Ekiti state did to elect their gubernatorial candidate without rancour and in a free and fair manner to the admiration of an average party man.
