Mr Jide Egunjobi, Ekiti State’s Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology has solicited the support of public-spirited individuals and corporate organisations for the efforts of the State Government at attaining and sustaining a high standard of education in the State.
Mr. Egunjobi made the call at Iyin Ekiti during the official hand-over of a block of four classrooms that was recently renovated at a cost of three million naira by the 1976 set of the Eyemote Comprehensive High School, Iyin Ekiti to the management of the school.
Egunjobi stressed the need for alumni, parents/teachers associations and other relevant stakeholders to plough back into their alma maters towards guaranteeing the capability of the institutions to cater for future generations.
Reiterating the commitment of the State Government to the development of education, the Commissioner lamented that the prevailing economic downturn characterised by meagre allocation to the State from the federation account and poverty in the society may hinder the pace of transformation that government desired.
He described the feat achieved so far in the education sector by the present administration in the State in spite of its scanty resources as a display of dedication of government to the development of the sector, stressing the resolve of government to leave no stone unturned in the effort at putting the State back to its pride of place.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the 1976 set of the Eyemote Comprehensive High School, Iyin Ekiti, Justice Ayodeji Daramola who is the Chief Judge of the State charged all stakeholders in the education sector to live up to their responsibilities adding that the primary focus was to ensure a conducive teaching and learning environment in schools.
