Super Eagles’ playmaker, Odion Ighalo joined up with his teammates on Wednesday afternoon at the Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort, Uyo, ahead of Saturday’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier Group E match against Libya, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Changchun Yatai striker boarded an Air Peace flight in Lagos to Uyo on Wednesday morning.
Ighalo said the ambition of playing at the Africa Cup of Nations was the sole motivation for him and his teammates going into the crucial double-header against the Mediterranean Knights of Libya.
“We want to play at the AFCON next year and to do that, beating Libya is a task we must accomplish successfully,” Ighalo said.
Nigeria on three points, trail Group E leaders Libya by a point ahead of the double qualifiers billed for Uyo on Saturday and next Tuesday in Sfax, Tunisia.
South Africa are currently in second position on four points as Libya, but with fewer goals difference. Seychelles bring up the rear after losing their first two games against Libya and Nigeria.
