As part of the preparation towards the inauguration of the Ekiti State Governor Elect, Dr. Kayode Fayemi on the 16th of October, 2018 the Special Committee saddled with the responsibilities of planning for his swearing in ceremony has revealed the week-long activities mapped out to usher in the new Governor into the Ekiti State Government House.
Addressing the media on Wednesday at the AB Hotel located at the popular Adebayo Area of the state capital, the Chairman of the Media and Publicity Sub-Committee for the Inauguration Central Committee; Mr. Yinka Oyebode who read the Press statement informed the good people of the State and the members of the public that President Muhammadu Buhari, the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, some State Governors, Federal Ministers and other dignitaries will be in Ekiti State for the inauguration of Fayemi as the sixth democratically elected Governor of the State on the 16th of October, 2018.
According to Mr. Yinka Oyebode, he disclosed that the Inauguration ceremony would take place at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion along New Iyin Road in Ado Ekiti. Oyebode reeled out the activities that would commence on Monday October 15th, 2018 with the Inauguration Lecture / Book Presentation to be delivered by Professor Niyi Osundare at the AB Event Centre Adebayo Way, Ado Ekiti and followed by the presentation of Prizes to winners of JKF Essay Competitions.
Oyebode revealed further, “on October 17th and 18th, Dr. Kayode Fayemi will hold Town Hall Meetings with the people across the three Senatorial Districts of the State. The Town Hall Meeting for the Ekiti State Senatorial District will hold at the Aramoko Ekiti Motor Park; that of the Ekiti North Senatorial District will take place at the Odo Udo Primary School Grounds, Ojido Road, Ido – Ekiti while that of the Ekiti State South Senatorial District will hold at the Ereja Park (Round About) in Ikere Ekiti.
“On October Friday 19th, the Thanksgiving Jumat Service holds at the Central Mosque in Ado-Ekiti; the Ekiti Arts, Culture and Talent Fair holds at Ekiti Parapo Pavilion along New Iyin Road in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday 20th, 2018; the thanksgiving service holds on Sunday, October 21st at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral Church, Old Motor Park, Ado-Ekiti; while a civic reception will take place at the Eyitayo Lodge at Isan-Ekiti, the Country Home of the New Governor and the Inauguration Reception to hold at the Ekiti Parapo Pavillon, New Iyin Road on Tuesday October 16th, 2018. There will also be an Inter-Faith Thanksgiving Service at the Government House Grounds, Oke Bareke in Ado Ekiti on Thursday 18th October, 2018”.
Responding to questions during the Press Conference, the Inauguration Committee Members assured the Ekiti populace of adequate security before, during and after the 11 days activities to herald a new Government into the State. The Committee also gave the assurance that adequate provisions have been made to entertain the people and the guests being expected.
