The Chairman of Super Eagles Supporters Club, Prince Vincent Okumagba has commended the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federations (NFF), led by Amaju Pinnick and President Muhammadu Buhari over the return of the Super Eagles to the African Cup Of Nations (AFCON) after securing an away score draw with the South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in Johannesburg over the weekend.
The Supporters’ boss described the early qualifications of the Super Eagles after five years of missing out of AFCON action as an indication of the collective efforts of the federal government, the NFF and other football stakeholders in the country, which includes the supporters club.
He, However, thumped up the team’s confidence, sense of patriotism and professionalism, especially the Genort Rhor led technical crew, while lamenting the error made by the referees that denied the team the well deserved victory by canceling what appeared to be good goals scored in both half of the game.
Okumagba further reinstated his commitment to the promotion and sustenance of Nigerian football, dispelling some assertion made by some people he portrayed as “dissident” as a complete ruse, aimed at distracting the good work his association is doing with Nigerian football.
“I will like to put the records straight – no one suspended or dismissed me from Nigeria Football Supporters Club. I was one of few individuals that laboured very hard to build the NFSC and deserve to lead the association. I emerged winner at the NFSC elections that was held in Abuja before the rancor that necessitated the emergence of the Eagles Supporters Club.
“All the executives of the association are involved in picking the name that was eventually registered with full consent and cooperation from the football ruling body in the country. I am not the type that wrestles power with people, and as matter of fact, I enjoy total support and confidence of majority of members of the NFSC.
“Super Eagles Supporters Club has its chapters in every state of the federations with members that are committed to the ideals and objectives of the club. I don’t like joining issues with unscrupulous people who have the aim of distracting the good work we are set out to do for the success of Nigerian football, but there’s need to put the records straight”, the Supporters’ boss explained.
