In recognition of contributions to the development of sports at the grassroots, the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Oyo State Chapter will on Friday, honour some personalities with distinguished sports merit award.
The dinner and award night scheduled for Joybam Hotel on Friday is to climax activities marking the 2018 annual SWAN Week celebration which had started since a week ago with various sporting programmes.
One of the dignitaries that will be honoured during the gala night according to the chairman of Oyo SWAN Week planning committee, Olanrewaju Agiri is the Commissioner of Police of Oyo State, CP Abiodun Odude who has tremendously boost the image of Oyo State command within the force through Sport.
Also to be honour during the night’s event is Ambassador Romoke Ayinde, the CEO of Kayrom Lee Nig. Ltd. She is also a principal partner to the Federal Ministry Of Youths And Sports on grassroots sports development, she’s to be decorated as a Matron of the association.
Rashidi Yekini Foundation, Dr. Musa Oshodi, the vice president of Nigeria Judo Federation, Tokunbo Ladipo of TKO Sports, Chief Baron Akintunde Opaleye, the chairman of Oyo State Amateur Boxing Association, Alh. Hamzart Kolade Oba of Cool Global Interlinks are among dignitaries that will also receive SWAN Merit Award.
Other activities marking the week’s celebration included football, table-tennis, athletics and tennis competitions among media houses in the state, while winners in different categories of sports will receive trophies and cash prizes during the gala night.
