Dr Kayode Fayemi’s government in Ekiti State has restated its commitment to partner with relevant organizations towards creating employment opportunities for the youth in the state.
The Director General of the Bureau of Employment Labour and productivity, Mr. Olarenwaju Ogunjobi stated this at a parley with the officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN ) in Ado-Ekiti.
He expressed the readiness of the State Government to collaborate with the apex bank with to enhance the economy growth and development of the State through enterprise and employment generation, particularly for the youths.
Mr. Ogunjobi who solicited the assistance of the apex bank in combating the rising youth unemployment in the state, specifically called for the support of the CBN in funding and facilitating enterprise development aimed at enhancing the state economy.
Responding, the Branch Controller, Ekiti State Office, Mr. Ademola Atobatele said that Ekiti State was rated low in accessing CBN ‘s intervention programme due to the failure of the immediate past government to access some facilities offered by the Bank.
Mr. Atobatele listed some of the Bank facilities to include the Anchor Borrowers Programmes , Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Fund, Youth Entrepreneurship Development Programme, Agribusiness /Small and Medium Enterprise Investment Scheme among others which he said other states in the South West and other parts of the country have been enjoyin.
The CBN team however advised the state government to make concrete effort to re-orientate the youths and encourage them to embrace agriculture and make agribusiness more attractive to the youths.
