As the Oyo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC),  reorganizes its ‘house’, it has, during the week, passed a vote of confidence on the former governor of the state and leader of the party, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.

The members of the party at the end of their extended State Executive Council(SEC) meeting attended by 32 of the 33 local government party chairmen across the state equally passed a vote of confidence on the party chairman, Chief Akin Oke.

There had been calls by different groups  within the party for its National Working Committee(NWC) to sack the current state executive. The groups asked the NWC to appoint new leaders to reposition the party and bring back aggrieved members ahead of the 2023 general elections  following the below par performance of the party in the state during the 2019 general elections.

But in a communique issued at the end of the meeting, the  party’s spokesman, Dr Azeez Olatunde, said the meeting appraised the pre-election, election and post-election events within the party. He praised Ajimobi, the chairman and the state working committee for their commitment to genuine reconciliation and leadership.

The communique read in part: “The party charged the local government party chairmen to raise a local government reconciliation committee to reconcile all aggrieved party aspirants and members in line with a similar exercise being set up at the state level.

“Members were updated on various petitions before various tribunals and members were happy that judgments delivered so far have been justifying the integrity values which APC symbolises.”

The party also mandated the party chairmen in their respective local governments to warn members against setting up different groups within the party  and that anybody found working against the directive would be disciplined in line with the party’s constitution, no matter how highly placed.
