Nigerians from all sectors of the economy including President Muhammadu Buhari have been discussing the demise of one-time Minister of Information, Chief Alex Akinyele who passed away Thursday night after a brief illness.

The president’s spokesman, Femi Adesina, in a statement on Friday said, “The President commiserates with the government and people of Ondo State,  friends and professional colleagues of the departed, urging them to take solace in the lasting legacies of the former colourful minister, who also served as Chairman of National Sports Commission and Chairman of National Reconciliation Committee.

“As a trained teacher and public relations specialist, President Buhari affirms that Chief Akinyele’s scrupulousness, discipline and diligence were always obvious to those who worked closely with him, and his love for the nation, which was zealously demonstrated through providing exemplary leadership.

Top professionals, especially journalists who spoke with PMParrot submitted that the Ondo high chief will be greatly missed.

Said a prominent journalist “Chief Akinyele will be remembered for raising the bar in the media industry. He added a lot of colours to what we were doing in those days despite the absence of what you now call ‘social media’.
