Fayemi’s Government Reiterates Commitment To Security Of Residents

Dr Kayode Fayemi’ Government in Ekiti State has reiterated its commitment to the welfare and security of the people while also pledging to develop workable strategies with security agencies to reduce crime to the barest minimum.

The Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, assured that the administration of Governor Kayode Fayemi would continue to support security agencies and its auxiliary organs to be able to perform optimally in securing the lives and properties of the people of the state.

Egbeyemi gave the assurance while declaring open the Free Medical Service organized by the Nigerian Legion Corps of Commissionaires (CNC), Ekiti State Command as part of activities marking the second anniversary of their establishment in Ekiti State.

The Deputy Governor said the constitutional establishment of the Nigerian Legion Corps as an auxiliary arm of the Nigerian Legion would further bring to reality the goal of enhancing the security situation of the country.

Egbeyemi asserted that tremendous efforts would be made by the State Government to ensure that the command in the state attains an enviable position among its peers in the country.

He said: “This organization is ours, well known to the Nigerian Laws, we will make sure that you start well in Ekiti, in education all over the country, we are rated first in the country, in Nigerian Legion matter we must also be rated first.

We have sons and daughters from Ekiti State who did well in the Nigerian Army, people like Lt.-Col Adekunle Fajuyi (Late), people like Gen. James Oluleye and others.”

The Deputy Governor charged the Legion Corps to be united and support the executives to be able to achieve the aims and objectives of the command.

Egbeyemi, who promised to convey their request for an office and patrol van to the Governor said, the request for a land by the Nigerian Fire Service and that of the Association of Nigerian

Petroleum in the state was granted by Governor Fayemi, with an assurance that a case would also be made for their application.

Earlier in his address, the Chairman Nigerian Legion, Retired Col. Joseph Adeyanju, commended the support of the administration of Governor Fayemi, for the Legion with an assurance to continue to partner the State Government in areas that matters.

Col. Adeyanju appealed to the State Government to secure an office for the Legion and a patrol van for its corps to be able to discharge its constitutional responsibility as expected.

Also, the State Commandant of the Nigerian Legion Corps of Commissionaires, Kayode Ogunyemi explained that the Corps was established as an auxiliary of the Nigerian Legion and directly operating under the Federal Ministry of Defence as provided for by the Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Ogunyemi, who mentioned that the presence of the Corps has instilled security consciousness and awareness to the people of the state, disclosed that the free health service was to complement the good governance agenda of the State Government in ensuring a healthy state.

The Deputy Governor was thereafter offered medical test to commence the free health service for the people of the state.
