Ex-Deputy Speaker, Musah, Confirmed By Oyo House As Chairman Of OSHASC

The Oyo State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of former House of Assembly member, Abdulwasi Musah as Chairman, Oyo State House of Assembly Service Commission.

The House also confirmed four others as full time and part time members of the commission.

The nominees include Hon. Ojoawo Moses Adewuyi, Mrs. Iyiade Ladoye, Aranbada Adekunle Iyanda and  Hon. Ogundoke Hassan.

The Speaker, Hon, Adebo Ogundoyin, while commenting on the nomination of former Deputy Speaker and chairman designate of the commission, Hon. Abdulwasi Musah, asserted that he believes in the prowess and ability of the former deputy speaker to carry out an effective running of the service commission.

According to  him. “I can testify to the integrity and the intelligence of the former deputy speaker. He is not only book smart but street smart, and that is what we need. He is somebody who can fight for the people, the assembly and also for good governance.”

Hon. Olawumi Oladeji, lawmaker representing Ogbomoso North state constituency also expressed her happiness for the appointment of the former deputy speaker. She described Hon. Abdulwasi Musah as a team leader and a team player who always wants to deliver good result.

She disclosed that the antecedents and reputation of the nominees will go a long way in adding positive changes to the affairs of the commission.

While Speaking to journalists after the screening, the newly confirmed Chairman of the service commission, assured that the responsibilities given to his commission will be carried out in line with expectations of the stakeholders.

“We are going to work in tandem with the constitution and in line with the aspirations and the promises of Governor Seyi Makinde in ensuring that the House of Assembly as the legislative arm is independent in the real sense of it, and being independent does not mean it is going to be antagonistic to the executive arm but to work together for results and good governance.”

“The National Assembly has amended the constitution to provide for financial autonomy which means the law passed in the Oyo State House of Assembly in the 8th assembly had to give way for the constitution of the country. The stage we are now is the stage of implementation, where we will make sure that what the law says is truly implemented,” he said.

The state’s governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde had last week presented the names of the nominees for the Oyo State House of Assembly Service Commission to the House of Assembly for confirmation.
