The Nigerian Army has said it will spare no effort in sensitising Oyo state youths in its recruitment drive for its Special Forces unit.
The Directorate of Army Recruitment, Resettlement and Reserves Brigadier-General Akpan Henry Emmanuel made this known in Ibadan, at a press conference organised by the Nigerian Army.
He stated that the major objectives of the recruitment drive to Oyo State can not be overemphasized.
According to him, the exercise is centred on “Special Forces Recruitment,” adding that the training is always rigorous, and highly demanding.
Speaking on qualifications and age bracket, General Emmanuel said that four Credit Passes in ‘O’ Level are needed including Mathematics and English Language for the new recruits between the ages of 18-22yrs.
He stressed that the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai has directed that those to be recruited must be physically and mentally fit for the exercise, he added that any Personnel that takes part in that training can function well in any environment.
On its part, Oyo state Government has urged the Nigerian army to provide a level playing field devoid of ethnic and religious sentiment to enable youths in the state enlist into the special forces unit.
The Commissioner for Youth and sports, Seun Fakorede who spoke on behalf of Governor Seyi Makinde promised to offer necessary support to the army to enhance hitch free exercise.
