Oyo Assembly Confirms 141 Female As LGAs/LCDAs Caretaker Committee Members

The Oyo State House of Assembly has confirmed all the Secretaries to the Local Government and members of the transition committee members nominated by the state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde.

The Speaker, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin confirmed the list after the screening exercise’s report was presented by the Chairman, Committee on Local Government, Chieftaincy Matters and State Honour, Hon. Olusegun Popoola.

PMParrot, in the report presented before the House by Hon. Popoola, member representing Ibadan South East state constituency 2, discovered that out of 408 nominees, about 141 were females.

It further discovered that none of the 68 Secretaries to the Local Government and 340 transition committee members was rejected by the committee.

While confirming the list of the nominees, the Speaker, Hon. Ogundoyin has directed all the caretaker chairmen to simultaneously inaugurate all the confirmed secretaries and members of the committee in their respective local government on Friday.

Meanwhile, following the outbreaks of coronavirus in the Ekiti State, the Oyo State House of Assembly has summoned the Chief Medical Directors of health institutions in the state.

Also summoned are the state Commissioners for Health, Information, Culture and Tourism and Education, Science and Technology, as well as Director, National Orientation Agency (NOA) to know level of preparedness, sensitization programmes and measures put in place to address possible outbreak of coronavirus, particularly in school and public places.

The House Majority Leader, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin raised the motion in a matter of urgent public importance during the plenary.

He noted that it is very important to put necessary measures in place to address the possible outbreak and curtail its widespread in the state.

Others summoned by the House are Chairmen, Oyo State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) and State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
