In order to complement what Oyo’s Governor Seyi Makinde is doing to curb the spread of coronavirus, the caretaker chairman of Ibadan East Local Council Development Area, Hon Abiodun Babalola has embarked on sensitization tour across the length and breadth of his LCDA.
The awareness and sensitization programme which started on Wednesday 25th of March 2020, kicked off at the local government headquarter situated at Iwo-road Ibadan at 11am with the involvement of few members of staff in order to maintain the rules of social distancing.
Hon Abiodun Babalola who moved in company of some key officers of the council commenced the sensitization and awareness from the popular Oje market and later touched other markets which included Oranyan and Orita-Aperin market, while he later visited some areas like Ode-Aje, Ajegede, Oja-Igbo, Aremo, Ita-abigbo and some other areas where he distributed hand sanitizers, hand gloves, mouth and nose covers, washing hand basins and some other equipment to the people of the council area.
The chairman advised the people of Ibadan East LCDA to take their health issue serious and ensure they report any symptoms of Covid-19 to the local government health center and any nearest hospital around them.
He also encouraged the people to always take measures against the Corona-virus such as, washing of the hands often, covering of the nose and other forms of self protection.
While reacting to the gesture, the Babaloja of Oranyan Alarobo market, Alhaji Mufutau Mustapha appreciated the council chairman for his love and affection towards the people of his constituency.
He described the council boss as a true grassroots politician who truly believes in the interest of his followers, he therefore prayed for his success while in office.
Top local government officials who participated in the sensitization programme included Mrs Clementina Modupeola, Head of Local Government Administration, Mrs L.T Hamzat, Mrs S.O Olaniyan, Miss Kehinde Oyerinde, the information Officer and some other top officials.
