SKYlight IAC Synergy Ltd., a design and building company located in Ibadan, has donated a walk-through disinfectant chamber to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Oyo State.

The Managing Director of the Company, Arch. Daniel Adeyemi during the presentation of the equipment to the hospital said the donation was part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of the Company, especially at this time that the world is facing a serious challenge of the novel coronavirus.

According to Adeyemi, the automated disinfectant equipment was designed to sanitize the whole body by aerosol spray in a rapid succession and without staining wears and other apparels.

He pointed out that the UCH was marked out as the first hospital for the donation because of the leading role the hospital plays in assuaging the spread of the COVID 19, saying “we believe that this innovation will help the UCH community in her readiness to resume full services and to mitigate the rebound of the coronavirus pandemic”.

The company demonstrated the use of the equipment in the full glare of the management and staff of UCH.

While receiving the equipment, the Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo lauded the gestures of SKYLight Company and appreciated the initiative to help the UCH contain the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

Otegbayo promised to put the equipment into good use and called on other companies in Nigeria to help UCH with equipment that will help to provide prompt services.

The CMD immediately directed that the machine be deployed to the Emergency Department.

UCH’s COVID-19 media team in a statement made available to PMParrot on Saturday also submitted that “as at the close of business on Friday, 12th June, 2020, there are no new active cases or confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the hospital.

“The University College Hospital, Ibadan has continued to play the leading role in combating the spread of the coronavirus, and has up-scaled her effort to render excellent care and services to all our patients.

“The Hospital equally enjoined everyone to adhere to the required infection prevention and control measures prescribed by the WHO and the NCDC, such as physical distancing, regular hand washing, use of hand sanitizers & face masks. We will continue to update the public accordingly”.
