Not less than 3000 people benefited from the Hassan Olawale Giwa (HOG) Foundation’s distribution of nose masks to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 in Oyo State.
The foundation also supported about 250 people with cash gifts of over N1.5 million to cushion the effect of the stay-at-home directive occasioned by the pandemic.
The founder of the Foundation, Arc. Hassan Giwa stated that the gestures were done out of love and good heart for the people.
He said the motive is to complement what the state government and well-meaning people are doing by extending palliatives to alleviate hardships on the vulnerable in the state particularly during this period.
According to Arc. Giwa, “we did not merely give out the money, we are encouraging the people, we educate them on the best hygiene and sanitation to prevent the spread of the rampaging disease. We have distributed not less than 3000 nose masks to traders, commercial drivers and ‘okada’ riders in Ibadan. Also, we supported people with cash, about N1.5 million was given out.
“These, we believe will complement what government has been doing and what well-to-do people in the state have been doing to reduce the level of suffering of the people,” he said.
The HOG Foundation founder, who disclosed that the foundation is planning to hold another palliative support programme for widows and aged people, urged the people to comply with government’s directive to prevent further spread of the novel coronavirus.
“We don’t want to stop at that, we are still planning another batch of support programme for widows and aged people. We want to do that as part of activities to commission our new office located at Iwo-Road in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
“I want to use the opportunity to enjoin the people to comply with directives as established by government and remain patient until little time that normalcy returns to the state and the country,” Arc. Giwa stated.
Hassan Olawale Giwa (HOG) Foundation is a non-governmental organization targeted at providing support for the people particularly the less privileged and orphans through various support schemes.
